Expansion of Burghausen Refinery using Layher Scaffolding
The scaffolding erectors in Burghausen provided, starting in October 2006, safe access for all the skilled workers engaged in expansion and servicing work throughout the entire refinery. To do so, they used Allround equipment. With the Layher scaffolding module, users have systemized solutions for economical and safe scaffolding construction. In refineries in particular, the low dimensions of the individual components are a big advantage. This makes them much easier to handle even in large tanks, whenever internal scaffolding is needed. All the scaffolding parts used are non-inflammable and permanently proof against corrosion.
In Burghausen, the scaffolding erectors were continually putting up, modifying and taking down about 5,000 tons of scaffolding material for over a year, depending on what work was required. Bridging was achieved with lattice beams, and Layher's walk-on cassette roof was used for protection against the elements. Steel toe boards were installed to minimize the fire risk.
Thanks to the simple and fast connecting technology, even scaffolding up to 80 meters high was put up in next to no time. Flexible Allround equipment was efficiently assembled around or through the steel structures and the pipeline systems of the refinery. The result was big savings, because the sooner the scaffolding was available, the sooner the work could be completed and the shorter the downtimes for the refinery. In this way, the loss of production was considerably reduced.
